Ciampino Airport is Rome's oldest airport, dating back to 1916, when it began its long life as a military airbase. Used by many enormous airships for daily flights, including a famous journey to the North Pole, Ciampino Airport grew in stature during the thirties. This was the dawn of a new age in aviation, particularly as the popularity of hydroplanes waned and civil flights were just beginning.

Ciampino is especially used by budget airlines, charter companies, and military traffic.
It is a busy airport that processed 29 million passengers in 2005.

The airport has three passenger terminals

(departures, arrivals and general aviation) and one cargo terminal

Has only 1 departure terminal

And flight company are Ryanair- Easy Jet-WizAir

The Air port is south of Roma

Distance to city centre 20 KM.

time to drive is about 40 minutes.

Eating and drinking: There are several restaurants, cafes and bars serving food, snacks and cold and hot drinks in the terminals.
Shopping: There are shopping opportunities at the airport. Products for sale include perfumes, liqueurs, traditional food items and clothing.
Luggage: The lost luggage office (tel: 06 7949 4225) is open from 0700-2300 every day and is located at the information desk in the arrivals area. For any property lost inside the airport, passengers can contact the found property office (tel: 06 7934 8320) on the first floor of the departures terminal.
Other facilities: A first aid service is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and has well-trained staff and modern, efficient equipment. There is also a pharmacy at the airport.

Getting to Rome

Rome has two major airports: Fiumicino and CiampinoRome Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport
Rome's main airport is well-connected to the center during the day by a direct train and slower trains. The direct train between Fiumicino and Termini costs € 11,00 and takes approximately 50 minutes. It leaves from and arrives at track 26 at Termini (the main train station).

Rome Ciampino Airport
A smaller airport dealing mainly with charter flights and budget airlines. It is connected to Line A metro station Anagnina (about 35 mins by metro from Termini) by Cotral buses; ticket costs € 1. Buses leave every half hour.
